CANADA: 1000 pound bluefin tuna

According to the last fishing news of Daily Mail Angler Marc Towers, fought an huge tuna for two hours before he pulled it to the surface of the water off the coast of Canso in Nova Scotia, Canada.

This monster bluefin tuna was over the 1,000 pound mark (453 kilo). The bluefin tuna was so huge that the crew was unable to haul it onto the boat and had to tie a rope around it to drag it four miles back to the dock. The big tuna was caught during the commercial season, and the boat owners are planning on selling the tuna to Japan for about 20,000 dollars.

The world record for a Bluefin tuna is held by Ken Fraser who caught a 1,496 pound - 677 kilo specimen off the coast of Nova Scotia back in 1979.

USA: monster tautog caught off New York

Out of  Sheepshead Bay  (New York), Capt. Nardiello, a party boat skipper hooked and landed a blackfish (or tautog) weighing little over 21 pounds.

According to Fishing United, this big fish will probably be a new state record for New York. The standing record is 20 pounds, 10 ounces.

SWEDEN: monster northern pikes over 50 inch

Three huge northern pike were recently caught in Sweden (Europe). All fishes were over 50 inch of length. Here the details:


Gustav Ljung:  40 lb - 18 pound  53 inch - 136 cm
Marcus Andersson;  52 inch - 131 cm pike 
Christer Lindström:  51 inch - 130 cm  39 pound - 17.6 kilo

AUSTRALIA: 100 pound murray cod

The south east part of Australia is the home of one of the biggest freshwater predator, the Murray cod. This  giant murray cod was caught at the beginning of this month at Blowering Dam by angler Peter Connors. He was spin fishing with a spinnerbait when the monster fish eat the lure.

The murray cod is one of the biggest ever caught in recent years; this fish was measured in 51 inch -130 cm in length and was estimated to weigh over 45 kilo - 100 pound. 

This big murray cod was released after the photos.

IRELAND: big pikes caught in Longford

Ireland is the emerald island and a great pike destination in Europe. According to the Melview Lodge fishing report, last week three lodge gusts (Sylvian Vivarelli, Baudry Michel, Bour Hervé and Étienne Denoyer from  France) enjoyed a great weeks pike fishing in Longford. With only few small pike to 14 pound - 7 kilo showing for the first couple of days the lads were wondering when the big one’s would show. this happen when wobbling dead baits done the trick and produced some cracking pike to over 27 pound - 12.30 kilo. The same day an other angler, Etienne  Denoyer ,caught the biggest pike of the week with a fish  27 pound and 9 oz.

JAPAN: world record size giant trevally

Which is the biggest giant trevally - GT - (Caranx ignoblis) ever caught with rod and reel from the shore? Keiki Hamasaki of Kagoshima, Japan caught this monster giant trevally of 75.50 kilo -160 pound not far from his hometown. Casting a popper from the shore on a 130 pound test line, it took him only a little more  than 30 minutes to hall the fish in. It beat the previous record, set by anlger Russel Mori, by over 25 pounds.

FRANCE: giant 80 lb 8 oz carp landed

Carp fishing angler Chris Gillett was fishing in France in the famous  Lake Gigantica when hooked a monster carp. One of the biggest ever landed in all Europe; this massive carp was 80 pound and  8oz - 36.60 kilos. He was fishing with CC Moore Live System boilies as bait.

UK: rare and mysterious albino shark

In the United Kingdom  fishing off Holyhead Marina on the north western tip of the Isle of Anglesey, North Wales angler  Huddersfield  Tojo caught a rare and mysterious albino shark. this strange fish weighed an approximate 4 lb -1.8 kg and was released shortly after a few photographs were taken.

AUSTRALIA: two greaters in one day

While fishing the famed black marlin grounds off of Australia's Great Barrier Reef, the crew on Hot Shot! had a wonderful and unforgettable day. Two huge greater black marlin caught!! One was over 1000 pound and the other well over the 1200 pound.

Capt. Ian  Ford and his deckie Ryan O'Halloran were fishing out of Cairns, in north Australia, when they managed to release two greater black marlins.While this has been done before, it is extremely rare, with only a handful of captains in the world ever accomplishing such a feat.

What we like even more, is this was a husband and wife team of anglers that caught and  released these two beasts. Angler Dave Thompson released the first grander, a fish that the crew called just over the 1000 pound mark.

The second and larger fish was released by Dave's wife Sharon Thompson. The captain called Sharon's fish an estimated 1200 pounds plus! That's one best black marlin of the season!

KENYA: the monster tiger shark

One of the biggest tiger shark ever landed was caught in Kenya on board the famous boat "White Bear" of Hemmingways Hotel. the lucky angler was Peter Fox and the monster tiger shark was 1634 pounds - 740 kilograms.

CANADA: 35 pound big Northern Pike

According with the Salmo Facebook page, this big northern pike was caught Rebekah Whiteand released at Pakwash Lake between Ear Falls and Red Lake, Ontario Lake at the Trout River Lodge


This huge pike was caught on a Salmo Warrior lure and weighed in at over 35 pound and had an overall length of over 50 inches!

MEXICO: huge 114 lb wahoo

Last week, on Sea of Cortez off Baja California's East Cape region was landed a big wahoo. According with  Eddie Dalmau  of Hotel Palmas de Cortez the big 114 pound - 51 kilos big wahoo  was caught just north of the resort near Punta Pescadero aboard the charter boat "Borraccho" captained by Oscar Verdugo.The wahoo was caught while trolling a a ballyhoo; this was one of four wahoo hooked by a team of anglers.

The world record wahoo, accordin with International Game Fish Assn. lists a 184 pound wahoo, caught off Cabo San Lucas in 2005.

AUSTRALIA: shark crazy attack video

A superb video of a shark attack. Some fishermen was fishing and filming out of North Queensland in Australia when they hooked a big king mackerel (narrowbarred mackerel); when the fish was ready for the gaff a nice size shark come out from nowhere ant attacked the fish. The video is of very good quality.

MALDIVES ISLANDS: giant trevally attak video

TAIWAN: giant white shark caught

In the town of Fengbin in Taiwan was recently landed an huge exemplary of great white shark 
and according to local newspaper was more than 5 metres - 16 feet in length and 1286 kilos - 2840 pound in weight.
Local fishermen have netted the  great white shark off  only 300 metres from shore. The local Coast Guard has cautioned people to beware of the ‘frequent inshore white shark activity’.

The big shark was sold at the local  fish market. According to a local news, the shark fetched a price of NT$100,000 (US$3,422).

AUSTALIA: big marlin landed after 7 hours fighting

A blue marlin of  727.74 pounds  - 329.3 kilos was caught in Western Australia. This big fish was fought for seven hours and towed the 23 foot boat more than 6  miles, but angler Rowan Smith was finally able to land the largest blue marlin ever caught in the Western part of the country.n
The blue marlin measured 13,77 feet - 5.4 metres eclipsed the Western Australia record of Garrick Agnew record of  703.27 pounds set on 1983.

MEXICO: mysterious fish found off Cabo San Lucas

Pisces Sportfishing Fleet in Mexico posted on their Facebook page the image of a strange fish that one of their boat found floating dead in the sea.


Captain Josue Moreno, left the dock in the  morning with some tourists he had signed up for a half day of fishing. They headed out to the sea in hopes of catching some dorado and were 6 miles off of the "Old Lighthouse", when they spotted something big on the surface of the Ocean. It was a dead fish that no one have ever seen before. 

This ugly and rare fish seems to a louvar or Luvaras Imperialis. Very little is know about this oceanic fish.

USA: 2 white sharks caught from pier in California

Two great white sharks were caught on Manhattan Beach Pier (California) one estimated to measure 5/6 feet and the other 7/8 feet.
White sharks are protected off California and landing them is illegal so both sharks were cut loose after being reeled to the surface and both catches were witnessed by Eric Martin, director of the Roundhouse Marine Studies Lab and Aquarium at the end of the pier.

The two white sharks were caught while using large dead mackerel for bait. These were the fifth and six white shark battles Martin has witnessed from the pier since mid-July. 

There has been a large abundance of market-sized squid in South Bay waters in recent weeks. This could be attracting rays, small sharks and and other prey items preferred by juvenile white sharks.
