IRELAND: skate of 182 pound landed
Anglers Rosco and Davy Craig had a great day out last week in glorious conditions, sunny, no wind. Using some frozen mackerels and standard rigs they had some great results on the sea while fishing dogfish sharks.
The hooked and landed a big skate. The fight was an endurance battle for both fish and fisherman but after 45 minutes it surfaced near the boat.
At this point it could be seen that a small dogfish had taken the bait. The big skate must have swooped on the dogfish shark just as Rosco lifted the rod and got itself hooked.
This big size skaye was measured and turned out at 182 pound - 82 kilos; the fish was tagged and then swam away strongly when returned.
