NEWS: caught huge 400+ lb Indian Ocean grouper

Some fishermen in the Indian Ocean near the archipelago of Seychellese off East Africa f caught an huge grouper said to be the third-largest fish of its kind on record.

It took seven fishermen to pull the gigantic fish aboard the boat the past week, and the enormity of it explains why. The  grouper weighed more than 420 pounds - 190 kilos and was 7 feet - 2.1 metres long.

By Saturday night, the fish was en route to England (UK) where it went from the wholesaler Hodgkinsons  in Manchester.

The owners purchased the goliath grouper for $1,260 and put it on display with the intention of cutting it up and selling it in pieces that will ultimately net the fish market $6,350.

WORLD RECORDS: hot catches December 2016

Ecuadorian angler Juanfelipe Adum – age 10 – caught this impressive 12.24 kg (27 lb) Pacific snook (Centropomus spp.) on December 3rd that could potentially earn him the new Male-Smallfry world record. Adum, an experienced young angler, needed only 10 minutes to subdue the hard-fighting snook after it crushed the diving Rapala lure he was trolling from the Makaira, off the coast of Salinas, Ecuador. If approved, Juanfelipe’s recent snook will best his own record of 9.98 kg (22 lb) that he set back in February of 2016.

French angler Philippe Drouhin caught this incredible 15 kg (33 lb) two-spot red snapper (Lutjanus bohar) – the heaviest ever recorded by the IGFA - on December 12th, while fishing off the island of Mauritius with IGFA Captain Yann Colas. The massive snapper was caught while bottom fishing with chunk bait, and put up a tough fight before it could be boated. If approved, the catch will become the new All-Tackle world record, which currently stands at 14.5 kg (31 lb 15 oz).

Angler Florian N. Fehringer – age 15 - caught this beautiful zander (Zander lucioperca) on October 18th while fly fishing the Jsar River in his native country of Germany. Using 6 kg (12 lb) tippet, Fehringer needed nearly 30 minutes to land the 6.58 kg (14 lb 8 oz) fish after it ate the fly he was casting. If approved, the catch will earn Fehringer the new men’s 6 kg (12 lb) tippet class world record, which currently stands at 3.14 kg (6 lb 14 oz).

US: caught a new record size musky of 57 pounds

A North Dakota angler caught a monstrous musky! Marshall Hopp decided rather than go shopping on Black Friday, they’d go musky fishing.

Hedecided to fish Mille Lacs and began trolling in 25 feet of water off the southern shore of the lake. It was a chilly though relatively calm day.

He trolled over a rocky reef and bounced their lures off the rocks in hopes of sparking a hit and they had one, a big one.

After he netted the beast, which threatened to overtake their landing net, it took both Hopp and Johnson together to hoist the musky into the boat. Hopp admitted to experiencing an excitement like never before, and when he tried to lift the fish he could barely do it.

He had on board only a 40 inches tape, so unofficial, their scratched marks measured an incredible 56 inches with a 28.5 girt.
By those unofficial measurements the fish was estimated to weigh at least 57 pounds (25.8 kilos)

The current Minnesota state record is a certified musky of 54 pounds caught in 1957. That fish measured 56 inches and had a 27.75 inch girth.
