In 2007, Andy Maker broke the highly sought after British record, landing a 9-pound, 5-ounce chub from a southern stillwater. At the beginning of March, rumors swirled that another angler, had tied Maker’s record.
The record-tying fisherman is Neill Stephen, who was dunking a glob of cheese paste during the morning hours on the River Lea. The fish was recorded, held for the appropriate photos and then safely released back into the watershed.
