US: caught a world record size warsaw grouper by sperafisherman


During the St. Pete Open spearfishing tournament, diver James Taylor spearing the fish on a dive down 250 feet while 85 miles offshore. And although the fish didn’t count for the tournament, it may break the record books. Back at  the dock the huge fish was weighted in 409 lb. (185 kg)

He is currently waiting to hear from the International Underwater Spearfishing Association (IUSA) to confirm the record-setting catch. Taylor has also said he will be applying to Guinness World Records.




The largest Warsaw Grouper taken on a traditional rod and reel weighed 436 pounds and was caught in the Gulf of Mexico off the Florida coast in 1985.
