USA: Rhode Island 996 lbs 8 oz mako shark

 

Off the costs of Block Island, Rhode Island (USA), a enormous  Shortfin mako shark ( Isurus oxyrinchus ) of a wopping weight of  996 lbs 8 oz was landed. The big shark was caught by the crew of the boat ‘Bottom Line’ during the J & B Sharkfest Tournament. This massive fish it’s a potential new Rhode Island State Record for this species.
The current record is held by a 718 lbs mako shark ( 10 ft 6 inches in length ) that was caught in June 1993.
